**Short answer:** Surrogacy typically costs $130,000 to $250,000 or more in the USA. SMARTPath’s Mexico programs frequently start around $59,000 to $75,000. Every journey has three cost groups: agency fees, surrogate compensation and medical costs. Ukraine is quoted individually.

### The three parts of every budget

- **Agency fees:** what SMARTPath handles directly, including screening, matching, legal coordination and support.

When US agencies say “all-in”, they almost always mean agency services. These costs usually come from your clinic, and can add $30,000 to $60,000 or more:

### Hidden costs to ask about

- Surrogate costs for each embryo transfer, such as travel, lost wages and childcare

- Biotransport, extra testing and passport or citizenship steps in international journeys

### Questions to ask any agency

- Does your price include clinic costs? Which ones?

- Does “unlimited transfers” mean clinic costs or only your coordination?

- What happens to my money if a transfer fails?

- Do refunds cover medical costs or only unused agency fees?

- Is my money held in licensed, independent escrow?
